Toray Advanced Composites Continues to Thrive

Toray Advanced Composites Continues to Thrive

By Brittney Sherman

In 1972 Scott Unger’s first composite company was renamed TenCate Advanced Composites and in 2000 they opened their manufacturing facility in Morgan Hill. In 2018 the company was acquired by Toray Industries Inc. Today, Toray Advanced Composites is a leading supplier to the aerospace industry, providing advanced thermoset and thermoplastic composite materials to produce lightweight structures for the latest generation of commercial, general aviation, military and unmanned aircraft. They are the leading global supplier of thermoset prepregs for out-of-autoclave (OOA)/vacuum-bag-only (VBO) applications and their Toray Cetex® brand is a leader in thermoplastic prepregs for the aerostructures market. Additionally, as the leading supplier of composite materials to the satellite, space exploration and launch industries, Toray’s CCS Group provides the industry with exceptionally durable and light weight carbon fiber compression molded parts. CCS focuses on replacing aluminum and titanium with a lighter weight, more cost-effective solution for improved efficiency and performance. Toray Advanced Composites has a secondary location in Fairfield that specializes mainly in thermoset products for satellites. We are thrilled to share that the company is expanding and actively looking to do so in Morgan Hill.

Sushi Confidential Opens in Morgan Hill

Sushi Confidential Opens in Morgan Hill

By Brittney Sherman

On Sunday April 10th, Sushi Confidential opened their doors in Morgan Hill. This is the 3rd restaurant location for owner/operator Sushi Randy who has restaurants in Campbell and San Jose, in addition to concession pop-ups at the SAP Shark Tank, Shoreline Amphitheatre and the Plex. Sushi Randy spent 12 years as a cancer researcher by day and a Sushi Chef by night, before taking the leap to open his first Sushi Confidential in 2012. The name “Sushi Confidential” is based on the private underground sushi dinners he would host in his house three nights a week. The menu was always sushi and the dinner was always confidential. Randy is passionate about sustainable fishing, community fundraising and sushi education. Make your way to Sushi Confidential for unique cocktails, award-winning sushi and local wine.

Anaerobe Systems Expands in Morgan Hill

Anaerobe Systems Expands in Morgan Hill

By Brittney Sherman

Meet Morgan Hill Business - Anaerobe Systems!

Mike Cox founded Anaerobe Systems in 1978. The company produces the world’s only true pre-reduced anaerobically sterilized (PRAS) culture media; sterilized, poured, and packaged under strict anaerobic conditions (never exposed to oxygen). The process and machinery have been custom designed by Mike and Steve, and follow a meticulous oxygen-free process resulting in the culture media having a 3-month to 3-year shelf life without requiring refrigeration. Mike also invented and patented the first gloveless anaerobic chamber over 40 years ago and is the recipient of the Anaerobe Society of Americans Lifetime Achievement Award.

Mike has been repurposing organic byproduct from growers in the Salinas, Watsonville and Gilroy areas for years now. He developed a patented method to fully recycle tomato, cabbage and water hyacinth byproduct into a solution that is reintroduced back into the soil growing the next series of plants two times as fast and as large. The fertilizer not only has the ability to be a game changer for farmers to comply with AG Order 4.0 regulations, but could also play a significant role in organic recycling and greenhouse gas reduction worldwide.

Anaerobe Systems is underway with expansion plans here in Morgan Hill. Visit the company’s website HERE to learn more!
