Colibri Art & Framing : A small gallery with a big vision

We sat down with the Ellie Honl, Gallery Director for Colibri to talk about talk about Colibri’s upcoming grand opening and her vision for this new artist space.

Q. What makes the gallery unique/stand out from other art galleries?

“Colibri Gallery has a curated selection of original artwork by Bay Area artists at the top of their field, as well as artwork from celebrated artists from across the nation. The gallery is inviting and has a variety of art mediums, styles, and price ranges. “

Q. What is your vision as a Gallery Director for the gallery?

“I hope to create a gallery that is an inspiring and welcoming place for people to enjoy and learn about art while supporting the artists who make it. The owners Dan and Kathy McCranie are long time residents of the community and supporters of the arts. Their dream is to make Morgan Hill an arts destination for the greater Bay Area. The artwork I selected for the gallery is created by exceptional artists, has a fresh aesthetic, a confident style, and something I knew people would love to collect and live with in their homes.”

Q. How often do you plan to change the art exhibits in your gallery?

“Colibri Gallery represents over twenty artists and its exhibits will be constantly rotating when new artwork arrives.”

Q. How can people visit your gallery during COVID-19, I saw that you have open hours but do you have to sign up or can you just walk-in? Do you have a special protocol?

“Colibri Gallery is now open to the public Tuesday through Saturday with private appointments available Tuesday - Thursday mornings. Social distancing protocols including capacity limits are being followed.”
