The existing contract between maritime employes, represented by the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX), and the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) will expire on September 30, 2024. In January 2023, Assembly Bill 2747 went into effect, supporting Olympic hopefuls by offering in-state tuition for U.S. Olympians and Paralympians wanting to train in the golden state. The state of California will continue its support of the games as Los Angeles takes the torch as the host City of the Summer Olympic and Paralympic games in 2028.
