One of the great things about Morgan Hill is the weather. Even on a California winter’s day you can enjoy a nice scoop of ice cream.  Located in downtown Morgan Hill on East 3rd Street, the new Sweet Retreat ice cream scoop shop satisfies the ice cream urge.  With flavors such as Chocolate Fantasy, Marble Black Raspberry, Kona Chip and Tin Roof sundae (my favorite) you can’t go wrong. The store has 45 flavors of mouthwatering ice cream to try.

I sat down with owner Anjan Parikh, to find out more about the origins of Sweet Retreat.

When did you open your store?

“My wife, Bhavna and I opened our Morgan Hill Sweet Retreat store this past November 2019. We currently have two stores; one here and one on Blossom Hill Road in San Jose.  Prior to that we had another store in south San Jose but that one was burned down."

What makes your ice cream special?

"The quality and consistency of Treat Ice Cream is superb; it never fails our standards. They have been our primary ice cream supplier, approximately 70 percent of our ice cream comes from Treat Ice Cream Company. Treat Ice cream Company, located in San Jose has been producing ice cream since 1951.”

What flavors are the most popular? 

"Our top selling ice cream flavors are Chocolate Fantasy, Chocolate Chip, Oreo Mint Crunch and Cookie Dough. My personal favorites are Coconut Pineapple and Mango.”

"We also sell yogurt, banana splits, sundaes and milkshakes in any of our flavors."

Why Morgan Hill?

"Many of our Blossom Hill patrons kept requesting that we consider opening up a store in Morgan Hill because they traveled from Morgan Hill to get their ice cream. We eventually saw the growth happening in Morgan Hill and decided to give it a try.  Plus, we have always loved this community."
