First Farmworker Apartment Complex to Break Ground in Morgan Hill

On Thursday, August 11, the first affordable apartment housing project to offer dedicated farmworker housing in Santa Clara County will break ground in Morgan Hill. This apartment project is a 73-unit multi-family complex called Royal Oak Village.

Magnolia's Apartment Project to Include Farmworker Housing

The Magnolias Community is Morgan Hill's second rental project to include units specifically dedicated for farmworker housing. This multi-family rental community will feature 66-units and will be located at 17965 Monterey Road in Morgan Hill. With the City of Morgan Hill's existing apartment vacancy rate at 1%, the Magnolias provides affordable housing options to households earning 30% to 60% of the area median income (AMI), which for a family of four is $168,500. This project provides much needed affordable housing for agricultural workers and unhoused families.

Micro-Mechanics: A world-renowned Singapore-listed company

Micro-Mechanics started in 1983.  After establishing manufacturing plants in Singapore, Malaysia, China and the Philippines, as well as sales representation  in Taiwan, Europe, Thailand and Japan,  the company established a factory in Morgan Hill in 2008. Micro-Mechanics designs and manufactures advanced semiconductor packaging, testing tools and consumables, in addition to manufacturing critical precision tools and components for water manufacturing and other high-tech industry custom process applications. Micro-Mechanics employees 65 people at its Morgan Hill location, offering a wide range of shifts, including weekends and nights, in addition to a competitive employee package including opportunities for healthcare and matching savings accounts. Micro-Mechanics aims to be at the forefront of environmental preservation practices in the Manufacturing Industry. They currently have solar and rooftop carports that cover more than 70% of their electrical needs, with another solar expansion project currently in the pipeline. Since becoming a public company in 2003, Micro-Mechanics has become a world-renowned Singapore-listed company, receiving consistent attributes for their corporate governance, transparency, and investor relations practices. SVEDA Members Tour Downtown Morgan Hill

Economic Development Directors from 9 Bay Area Cities met in Morgan Hill on June 23 for a walking tour of the Downtown District. The docent-style tour, led by City of Morgan Hill Economic Development Director Matt Mahood and Assistant City Manager Edith Ramirez, provided an overview of recently opened businesses, current and future developments, and community and art activations. Representatives from Live+Love+Leal, Alara Cellars and the Running Shop and Hops greeted attendees and gave a business overview.

The Silicon Valley Economic Development Alliance, an initiative of Joint Venture Silicon Valley, is comprised of cities and counties focused on achieving individual and regional economic development goals while maximizing scarce resources. Silicon Valley EDA is committed to addressing business needs, whether through local government policy and streamlined permitting processes, or linking businesses to local and regional resources that add value to company innovation and growth. Celebrating 7-Years of Pop Up Park Fun

Celebrating 7-Years of Pop Up Park Fun

After seven years of fun, the Downtown Morgan Hill Pop-Up Park will be dismantled on June 22, to make way for the construction of the Edes Art Gallery. The Pop-Up Park, a temporary installation by the City, has provided a space for families to enjoy an interactive area filled with art and funded in partnership with local businesses and community organizations. The Pop-Up Park was always meant as a temporary activation, and while we say a heartfelt goodbye to this beloved community space, we say an excited hello to a multi-use art gallery and pedestrian promenade.
