San Jose's Largest In-Person Hiring Fair

San Jose's Largest In-Person Hiring Fair

Work2future and San Jose Works will host a San Jose Career Expo on Friday, September 23rd from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the San José McEnery Convention Center, South Hall. This will be the South Bay’s largest in-person hiring event to date, with spaces available for 75 employers who are:

·    Currently hiring seasonal, part-time, and/or full-time employees. 

·    Looking for candidates that are entry-level to highly skilled. 

·    Open to applicants of all ages. Employers with the capacity to hire youth 16+ are encouraged to apply. 

There is no cost to participate, however space is limited. If you want to participate, submit your online application prior to the submission deadline on Monday September 5. If you have any questions, you can reach out to the Work2future Business Service Program Manager, Huong Tran, at huong.a.tran@sanjoseca.gov .

Silicon Valley Business Journal Highlights Downtown Development

In the Business Journal's July 25 “List” several of Morgan Hill’s largest non-retail employers were featured, largely a mix of manufacturers, construction firms, and high-tech companies. However, the Business Journal’s article on July 29 was centered solely around the pedestrian-friendly, tourist attracting, vibrant Downtown District.

“Morgan Hill's downtown strip —centered around Monterey Road between East Main Avenue and East Fifth Street — has added several new shops, eateries and a wine tasting room this year. At least one downtown establishment is planning to expand. Read more to learn about some of the newer venues you can visit……”

On Saturday, August 13th @ 3:00 p.m. Morgan Hill’s very own Craft Roots Restaurant will be featured in the 9th episode of Destination San Francisco! Watch the episode on KPIX- Channel 5 on Saturday, August 13th @ 3:00 p.m. PST to cheer on our local Morgan Hill restaurant and the City’s growing Foodie Scene!

SVEDA Members Tour Downtown Morgan Hill

Economic Development Directors from 9 Bay Area Cities met in Morgan Hill on June 23 for a walking tour of the Downtown District. The docent-style tour, led by City of Morgan Hill Economic Development Director Matt Mahood and Assistant City Manager Edith Ramirez, provided an overview of recently opened businesses, current and future developments, and community and art activations. Representatives from Live+Love+Leal, Alara Cellars and the Running Shop and Hops greeted attendees and gave a business overview.

The Silicon Valley Economic Development Alliance, an initiative of Joint Venture Silicon Valley, is comprised of cities and counties focused on achieving individual and regional economic development goals while maximizing scarce resources. Silicon Valley EDA is committed to addressing business needs, whether through local government policy and streamlined permitting processes, or linking businesses to local and regional resources that add value to company innovation and growth.
