Watch the episode on KPIX- Channel 5 on Saturday, August 13th @ 3:00 p.m. PST to cheer on our local Morgan Hill restaurant and the City’s growing Foodie Scene!

Lifestyle Home Decor Store Celebrates Grand Opening in Downtown Morgan Hill

Fresh flowers, furniture, and contemporary home decor have arrived in Downtown Morgan Hill. Urbn Ranch, a new women-owned retail shop, is celebrating their grand opening on July 29 at 6:30 p.m. The store took over the Tac-Oh retail space on 3rd Street and Monterey, part of a development by Don Imwalle and Ken Rodriguez, that houses Willard Hicks, Mo’s Breakfast and Burgers, and Opa!

1st Quarter 2022 Sales Tax Data Released

1st Quarter 2022 Sales Tax Data Released

Here are a few key takeaways from Morgan Hill's 1st Quarter 2022 sales tax numbers:

-Santa Clara County sales tax collections grew 14% and Morgan Hill collections grew 8.4%, as compared to this same quarter last year.

-Receipts from local Morgan Hill brick and mortar purchases rose 9.3% compared to 2021, supporting the continued trend of buying locally.

Sales tax collected from service stations rose 52% compared to 2021, as a result of increased gas prices and the continued return of commuter travel.

Casual dining and quick-service restaurants continued their upward trend, marking the 4th full quarter in a row where restaurant receipts have increased.

First Farmworker Apartment Complex to Break Ground in Morgan Hill

On Thursday, August 11, the first affordable apartment housing project to offer dedicated farmworker housing in Santa Clara County will break ground in Morgan Hill. This apartment project is a 73-unit multi-family complex called Royal Oak Village.

SVEDA Members Tour Downtown Morgan Hill

Economic Development Directors from 9 Bay Area Cities met in Morgan Hill on June 23 for a walking tour of the Downtown District. The docent-style tour, led by City of Morgan Hill Economic Development Director Matt Mahood and Assistant City Manager Edith Ramirez, provided an overview of recently opened businesses, current and future developments, and community and art activations. Representatives from Live+Love+Leal, Alara Cellars and the Running Shop and Hops greeted attendees and gave a business overview.

The Silicon Valley Economic Development Alliance, an initiative of Joint Venture Silicon Valley, is comprised of cities and counties focused on achieving individual and regional economic development goals while maximizing scarce resources. Silicon Valley EDA is committed to addressing business needs, whether through local government policy and streamlined permitting processes, or linking businesses to local and regional resources that add value to company innovation and growth.
