Helping Local Restaurants Succeed

The City of Morgan Hill in a collaborative partnership with the California Restaurant Association and the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) hosted a seminar on the changing policy landscape impacting business.  Kevin McClelland from SBDC and Ghazaleh Modarresi from Berliner Cohen facilitated conversations on the following topic:

  • Hours and wages

  • Split shifts

  • Minimum wage

  • Employee Breaks and Lunches

  • Americans with Disabilities Act (access to facilities, menus, websites)

  • SB 1343 a bill that requires employers with 5 or more employees to provide at least 2 hours of sexual harassment training to all supervisors and at least one hour of sexual harassment training to all non-supervisory employees by January 1, 2020

The session was part of a three part regional series focused on aiding local restaurants navigate the complex environment.

Restaurants that are interested in learning more are encourage to reach out to SBDC, California Restaurant Association or the City of Morgan Hill.
